Geekonomy AWS Cloud Architect Job Description - Contract - Bengaluru (On-site). The role: We are looking for an AWS Cloud Architect to design cloud solutions that are scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-effective. The role will involve understanding project requirements and evaluating technical needs, defining the overall cloud architecture, and guiding the implementation of AWS-based solutions. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of AWS architecture and be capable of making practical technical decisions while working closely with development teams and technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Understand business and technical requirements and translate them into appropriate AWS cloud architectures.
- Design scalable, highly available, secure, and cost-effective cloud environments.
- Define the overall architecture for compute, networking, storage, databases, security, monitoring, and application hosting.
- Select appropriate AWS services based on project requirements, technical considerations, and cost implications.
- Develop architecture approaches for new applications, infrastructure upgrades, and cloud migration projects.
- Review existing cloud environments and recommend improvements to architecture, scalability, security, and performance.
- Define cloud networking and connectivity architecture, including VPC design subnetting, routing, load balancing, and external connectivity.
- Establish appropriate approaches for identity management, security, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Evaluate infrastructure designs and provide technical recommendations to development and implementation team.
- Geekonomy: Work with development teams to ensure application architecture aligns effectively with the underlying cloud infrastructure.
- Identify opportunities for cloud cost optimization and efficient resource utilization at an architectural level.
- Prepare architecture diagrams, technical documentation, solution designs, and implementation guidelines.
- Participate in technical discussions with clients and internal stakeholders and clearly communicate architectural decisions and recommendations.
- Provide technical guidance during implementation and help resolve architecture-level challenges.
Requirements
- Total experience: 6-8 years.
- Relevant AWS experience: 4-5 years.
- Key skills: AWS architecture Well-Architected Framework, EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, Route 53, CloudWatch, ELB, networking design, security/DR/HA, Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Preferred: AWS Solutions Architect certification.
- Note: Will own end-to-end architecture independently.
- Strong understanding of AWS architecture principles and the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, AMI, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, Route 53, CloudWatch, and Elastic Load Balancing.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking and infrastructure design.
- Good understanding of security architecture, IAM, encryption, backup, disaster recovery, and high availability.
- Experience designing solutions for scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Understanding of application architecture and how applications interact with cloud infrastructure.
- Ability to analyse requirements and make appropriate technology and architecture decisions.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Good to have AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
- Experience with serverless architectures.
- Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with cloud migration and application modernization.
- Knowledge of AWS cost management and governance.
- Experience working directly with clients or technical stakeholders.
Note
This is a contract engagement with a minimum commitment of 6 months. You should be able to quickly understand the existing environment, assess technical requirements, make architecture decisions, and provide clear direction to the teams implementing the solution.
