ROLE, SCOPE and REPORTING STRUCTURE

The role assists the Finance Risk function across MUS(EMEA) and MUFG Bank London; this is a functional-wide departmental role. Its primary accountability is to assist with the operationalization of the risk and compliance frameworks set by the EMEA Region and Home Office.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Assist with the risk and control activities which ensure compliance with the Risk Frameworks, and which strengthen and sustain the Finance function risk culture

Provide independent risk and control oversight, perform key control testing, assist with event read across reviews, deep dive reviews and check and challenge over the Finance function RCSA

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Risk and Control Management

Assist with the refresh of the Finance RCSA and sustain this to compliant levels

Assist with the delivery of risk management training to the Finance function

Assist with the embedding of Risk Culture activities i.e. review of Key Indicators, tracking issue closure progress, control testing, event management, etcetera

Provide independent check and challenge of completed non-SOX control testing to drive continuous improvement within the Finance function

Assist with deep dive reviews of internal and/or external events and processes

Responsible to produce risk and control MI to identify quality issues and gaps for remediation, using modern technologies such as AI where appropriate

Assist with risk assessments as per framework requirements

Support the undertaking of the Finance RAF and Horizon Scanning forum and analyzing the risk tool data for inclusion in appropriate committee presentation materials

Challenge the risk and control owners to provide evidence for issue and action closure

Assist with the horizon scanning forum

The role holder will be proficient with the risk management tool(s) and be the subject matter expert within the Finance function, being able to extract reports and perform data analysis to identify non-compliant items and control efficiencies.

Assist with risk and control attestation requests, verifying the data and independently checking and challenging responses

Regulatory Compliance and Governance

• Comply with the entities policies and procedures as well as all rules, laws and regulatory requirements emanating from any of the regulatory authorities to which the entities are subject

Remain up to date with regulatory and internal framework changes and requirements as they are applicable to the function

People

Responsible for building and maintaining continuous relationships with key individuals within the London EMEA and MUFG Global Services Finance teams as well as other offshore locations

Responsible for building and maintaining continuous relationships with key individuals from other support function teams i.e. Operational Risk, Executive Control Office and Internal Audit

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential:

Operational Risk Management framework within a banking environment

Interpretation and analysis of risk and control data

Report writing experience and collation of risk forum packs

Control testing

Preferred:

Finance banking background

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Functional / Technical Competencies:

Essential

A strong interest in the design, delivery and reporting of Operational Risk

An appreciation of what constitutes a positive risk culture

Strong understanding of Risk and Control Self-Assessment

Strong analytical and writing skills

Strong knowledge of banking and/or investment banking services and products

Preferred

Relevant experience of risk management in a Finance function within a financial institution

Education / Qualifications:
