About this role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Automation Tester to design, develop, execute, and maintain automated testing solutions that ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of our software applications. The ideal candidate will have strong programming and automation skills, hands-on experience with automation frameworks, and a solid understanding of software testing methodologies. The candidate will collaborate with developers, manual testers, and other stakeholders to improve test coverage, reduce repetitive manual effort, and support reliable, frequent software releases.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze functional and technical requirements to identify suitable opportunities for test automation.
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for web applications and APIs.
- Build, enhance, and maintain reusable, scalable, and reliable automation frameworks.
- Develop automated test suites using tools such as Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, or Cypress, based on project requirements.
- Write automation scripts using programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript, depending on the selected framework.
- Automate functional, regression, smoke, sanity, and integration test scenarios.
- Perform API automation and validation using tools or frameworks such as REST Assured, Postman/Newman, or equivalent solutions.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and release validation.
- Identify, investigate, document, and track defects discovered through automated testing.
- Analyze failed test executions to distinguish application defects from script failures, test-data issues, and environment problems.
- Maintain test data, automation configurations, reusable components, and framework documentation.
- Collaborate with developers, manual testers, and product teams to improve testability and resolve quality issues.
- Monitor automation coverage, execution results, stability, and effectiveness, and recommend improvements.
- Optimize test execution time and reduce flaky tests to improve the reliability of automation suites.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, test planning, and release-readiness activities.
- Evaluate relevant automation tools and testing practices to continuously improve the quality assurance process.
Required Skills and Qualifications Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5-8 years of professional experience in software testing, with substantial hands-on experience in test automation.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles, SDLC, STLC, and defect life cycle.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major automation framework, such as Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, or Cypress.
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience designing and maintaining reusable automation frameworks and test scripts.
- Strong knowledge of functional and regression test automation.
- Experience with API testing and automation using suitable tools or libraries.
- Familiarity with Git and version control practices.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent platforms.
- Familiarity with test-management and defect-tracking tools such as Jira.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, testers, and cross-functional teams.
- Experience with framework patterns such as Page Object Model (POM) and data-driven testing.
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized test environments.
- Exposure to cloud-based testing environments.
- Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.
- Experience with mobile automation using Appium.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience automating tests for data-driven applications, GIS platforms, or agriculture and weather-related software is an advantage.
