Automation Management Platform Lead

Job Descriptio nRole; AMP Lea dLocation: Gurgaon/Hyderabad/Bangalor e Key Responsibiliti esTechnical ownership of A MP• Lead the architecture, design, and roadmap of the Automation Management Platform as a customer-facing “DevOps-in-a-box” solutio n.• Define and evolve the AMP reference architecture across Kubernetes (RKE2), Jenkins, Gitea, Nexus, cert-manager, Argo CD, and future additions such as Backstag e. Team leadership & deliv ery• Lead a small team of 2–3 engineers, providing technical direction, mentoring, and day-to-day guidan ce.• Distribute and prioritize work across the team, ensuring clear ownership, realistic estimates, and alignment with roadmap prioriti es.• Be accountable for the quality of the team’s output, including robustness, security, maintainability, and documentati on.• Establish and reinforce good engineering practices: code reviews, testing strategies, release practices, and operational readine ss. Installer, bootstrap, and packa ging• Design, maintain, and enhance the AMP self-installer, includ ing:• Ansible-based RKE2/Kubernetes bootstrap on R HEL.• Bundling of images, Helm charts, and values fi les.• Automated configuration and initial cluster bring-up from a bootstrap machine (e.g., lapt op).• Ensure AMP can be deployed reliably in on-prem, constrained, and potentially air-gapped environme nts. Platform engineering & autom ation• Design and implement automation (primarily in Python, Go, Bash, and Ansible) that:• Configures and operates Jenkins (including PiNK/Kubernetes age nts).• Provisions and configures Sonatype Nexus, Gitea + Postgres, Argo CD, and cert-man ager.• Supports GitOps-based deployment patterns for Grid software solut ions.• Develop reusable automation patterns that services teams can apply across multiple customer s ites. Backup, restore, and resi lience• Define and implement a comprehensive, documented backup and restore strategy for AMP, cov ering:• Application data and configuration (Gitea, Jenkins, Nexus, Argo CD, etc.).• Cluster-level state and critical se crets.• Evaluate and, where appropriate, integrate tools such as Velero for cluster and volume backups, alongside component-level backup mecha nisms.• Document and validate backup/restore procedures so customers and services teams can execute them with confi dence. Security, hardening, and com pliance• Drive security hardening of the AMP stack (RBAC, TLS, cert rotation, credentials management, image provenance, etc.).• Collaborate with cyber security, product, and compliance teams to ensure AMP meets relevant standards and regul ations.• Contribute to standards and patterns for secure configuration of Jenkins, Nexus, Gitea, and other tools in customer envir onments Integration with Grid Software and internal p latforms• Ensure AMP is an effective landing zone for Grid Software solutions, in cluding:• Standard patterns for deploying Grid applications via Argo CD, Helm and Ansible.• Consistent use of AMP-provided artifact, CI/CD, and Git tooling.• Partner with internal platform teams (e.g. CI/CD Blueprint, Backstage, Vulcan) to re-use patterns where appropriate and keep AMP aligned with internal pr actices. Collaboration, documentation, and e nablement• Write clear technical documenta tion for:• AMP installation, configuration, backup/restore, and operational runbooks.• Reference configurations and deployment patterns for Grid software.• Provide guidance, training, and best practices for operating AMP at customer sites and within servic es teams.• Participate in design and architecture reviews and contribute to internal s tandards. Desired Characteristics / Technical ExpertiseCore Engineer ing Skills• Deep experience in backend/platform engineering with Python and/or Go, plus strong scripting skills (e.g. Bash, Ansible).• Strong knowledge of software design principles, architecture patterns, and secure development practices.• Hands-on experience building and consuming RES Tful APIs. Kubernetes & on-prem platfor m expertiseSolid experience with Kubernetes (RKE2 or other distros), including:• Cluster provisioning, upgrade strategies, and day-2 operations.• Workload configuratio n via Helm. Famil iarity with:• GitOps tooling, idea lly Argo CD.• cert-manager or equivalent certificate managemen t solutions. Experience integrating and operating common DevOps tools on Kuberne tes, such as:• Jenkins (preferably with Kubernetes/Podman-in-Kubern etes agents),• So natype Nexus,• Gitea or similar Git hosti ng platforms,• Backing databases such a s PostgreSQL. Automation, CI/CD, and IaC• Experience working with CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.) and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraf orm, Ansible).• Understanding of software lifecycle manageme nt, including:• Artifact promotion and dependen cy management.• Release traceability and environment promot ion workflows. Data & Cl oud (Desirable)• Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, My SQL, or Oracle.• Desirable: familiarity with AWS services (EC2, EKS, RDS, Lambda, etc.).• Desirable: exposure to metrics, dashboards, or observability tooling such as Grafana, Promethe us, or PowerBI. Developer portal / UX (Desirable)• Desirable: experience with Backstage, software catalogs, or internal developer portals (IDPs), and an interest in building a clear operator/developer experienc e on top of AMP. Educat ion Qualification• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with adv anced experienc e.
