Titile: Automation Engineer (Chef to Ansible )

Role Purpose
Execute the high-volume discovery, rationalization, conversion, remediation and validation of Chef automation assets into Ansible.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze existing Chef cookbooks, recipes, attributes, templates and dependencies.
• Classify assets for migrate / rationalize / consolidate / retire.
• Convert eligible Chef automation into standardized Ansible assets.
• Use approved AI-assisted conversion capabilities where applicable.
• Perform manual remediation of converted code.
• Build reusable Ansible modules, roles and collections where appropriate.
• Migrate server provisioning, OS hardening, security/observability agents and infrastructure configuration.
• Execute unit and functional validation.
• Document migration exceptions and remediation requirements.
• Contribute migration throughput, conversion coverage, rework and quality metrics.
• Support migration waves through production validation.

Required Skills

• Hands-on Chef and Ansible experience is highly desirable for this role.
• Chef Cookbook / Recipe concepts and Ruby.
• Ansible/YAML.
• Python, PowerShell and/or Bash.
• Linux/Windows administration.
• Git and CI/CD.
• Infrastructure automation and configuration management.
• Strong troubleshooting and code-analysis skills.
