About this role
JOB PURPOSE
To support Strategy & Business Development lead in driving GMR Sports strategic and business expansion agenda by identifying new opportunities, enabling seamless project governance, coordinating effectively with key internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to the overall growth of GMR Sports portfolio.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Identifying New Business Opportunities
- Conduct proactive outward-facing interactions across the sports ecosystem to identify potential partnerships, growth avenues, and emerging opportunity areas for GMR Sports.
PMO Support for New & Existing Projects
- Provide structured PMO support including planning, tracking, reporting, and risk identification to ensure timely and successful execution of strategic and business development initiatives.
- Align internal and external stakeholders to ensure project timelines are managed
Internal & External Stakeholder Management
- Act as a coordination bridge between teams, ensuring smooth communication flow and alignment on key initiatives with GMR ecosystem stakeholders
- Manage external stakeholders including vendors, clients, partners, consultants, etc.
Support in Key Strategic Initiatives
Assist in planning, scoping, and executing high-impact strategic programs and long-term initiatives that increase organizational efficiencies and implementation of relevant digital transformation initiatives in line with GMR Sports growth vision
Business Case Development
Develop business cases for opportunity evaluation by conducting market research, creating financial models, and preparing structured documents and presentations for senior management.
EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS
Sports federations, leagues, and franchise partners for gathering market intelligence and exploring business opportunities
Consultants, research agencies, industry bodies for insights and collaborative evaluations
Commercial partners, vendors, and ecosystem stakeholders supporting BD & strategy initiatives
INTERNAL INTERACTIONS
GMR Sports leadership and various HODs
Operations, Finance, Commercial, HR, Legal, and Marketing departments
Larger GMR Group ecosystem stakeholders for approvals, inputs and decision making
FINANCIAL DIMENSIONS
- New Business verticals - Growth of GMR sports portfolio across Franchises (Teams), League(s), Sports Infrastructure, Grassroots and adjacent verticals
- Projects - PMO for key initiatives across each FY (league season, franchise wise charters, infrastructure opportunities and any new business)
- Stakeholder network - Regular interaction with 12 - 15 internal teams and various external entities in the sports ecosystem
OTHER DIMENSIONS
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
- Post Graduate with a specialization in management/ business from a reputed institute. Sports domain specialization is preferred.
- Strong understanding of the Indian sports ecosystem, commercial models, and growth drivers
- Proficiency in financial modelling, research, and presentation development
- Advanced MS Office (Power Point, Excel & Word) skills
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
- Experience: 3+ years
- Experience in sports consulting (Big4/ Boutique consulting firms preferred) with exposure to strategy, business development and market assessments.
- Prior experience working with sports federations, leagues, commercial partners, or sports IP rights holders will be an advantage
