Associate Manager - MTP&OE (CBM)

We have a power generation capacity of 15,250 MW comprising thermal power plants in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand, and a 40 MW solar power project in Gujarat.

Role Purpose

To drive the Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) program for power plant equipment by utilizing advanced diagnostic techniques, vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication monitoring, and predictive maintenance practices. The role focuses on improving equipment reliability, reducing unplanned outages, optimizing maintenance costs, and supporting plant availability targets.

Key Responsibilities

Condition Based Monitoring

• Execute and monitor the CBM program for critical rotating and static equipment across the plant.
• Perform vibration analysis of turbines, generators, motors, pumps, fans, mills, compressors, conveyors, and other critical assets.
• Conduct condition monitoring through:
• Vibration Analysis
• Infrared Thermography
• Oil & Lubricant Analysis
• Ultrasonic Testing
• Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA)
• Alignment and Balancing Studies
• Identify equipment deterioration trends and recommend corrective actions before failures occur.
• Prepare equipment health reports and predictive maintenance recommendations.

Reliability & Predictive Maintenance

• Develop and implement predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability.
• Analyze recurring equipment failures and conduct root cause analysis (RCA).
• Monitor reliability KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, Forced Outage Rate, and Equipment Availability.
• Support maintenance planning teams in shutdown and preventive maintenance activities.
• Recommend reliability improvement initiatives for critical assets.

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Collect, interpret, and analyze CBM data from online/offline monitoring systems.
• Generate condition assessment reports and communicate findings to plant management.
• Maintain equipment history, monitoring records, and diagnostic reports.
• Drive digitalization initiatives related to asset health monitoring.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with safety standards, statutory requirements, and company policies.
• Promote safe work practices during diagnostic and maintenance activities.
• Participate in safety audits and reliability improvement programs.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering / electrical engineering from a recognized institute.
• Certification in Vibration Analysis (ISO CAT-I / CAT-II / CAT-III) will be preferred.
• Additional certifications in Thermography, Lubrication Analysis, or Reliability Engineering will be an added advantage.

Experience

• 8-12 years of experience in Thermal Power Plants, Process Industry, Steel, Cement etc.
• Minimum 4-5 years of hands-on experience in Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) and predictive maintenance.

Technical Skills

• Expertise in vibration monitoring and analysis.
• Knowledge of thermal imaging and thermography interpretation.
• Understanding of lubrication management and oil analysis techniques.
• Knowledge of rotating equipment diagnostics.
• Experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM).
• Proficiency in SAP PM module for maintenance management.
• Familiarity with SCADA, DCS, and online condition monitoring systems.
• Knowledge of predictive analytics and reliability tools.
