About this role
- Monitor database servers, services, and instances to ensure availability, performance, and operational health.
- Perform daily health checks, monitor alerts, job failures, storage utilization, and database connectivity.
- Validate and monitor backup jobs, report failures, and support backup and recovery activities.
- Manage database users, roles, permissions, and access requests in accordance with security policies.
- Provide first-level support for SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases.
- Troubleshoot basic database, performance, and connectivity issues, escalating complex problems to L2/L3 teams.
- Handle incidents and service requests within SLA timelines while following ITIL processes and escalation procedures.
- Maintain operational documentation, knowledge articles, and prepare regular database health and incident reports.
About You
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 1-3 years of experience in database administration or production database support.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, MySQL, and PostgreSQL administration.
- Understanding of database concepts such as tables, indexes, schemas, users, and SQL queries.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery processes, database monitoring, and performance monitoring.
- Exposure to database monitoring tools and ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or similar tools.
- Basic knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments, with awareness of ITIL best practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to work in a 24x7 support environment.
