Associate Engineer

Responsibilities

- Conceive and implement technology solutions that meet business needs and align with the IT strategy
- Collaborate with colleagues, analysts, developers, project and program managers, and other stakeholders within an Agile methodology
- Assess and quantify risks associated with design decisions
- Provide visibility of architecture and design components to appropriate technical governance bodies
- Translate business requirements into viable and feasible solutions architectures within budget and timeline
- Identify and advocate for the best solutions for stakeholders
- Evaluate and recommend external products and services as part of solution delivery
- Translate application requirements into component and interface specifications
- Ensuring deliverables align with the agreed architecture and quality standards
- Deliver prototypes associated with design proposals

Skills

- Proven experience delivering complex, high-performing, redundant, and quality software systems
- Strong technical background with a track record of driving architectural vision and strategy
- Experience in Agile and XP practices
- Proficiency in steering projects through the application lifecycle
- Collaboration with business stakeholders, including Product Owners and Business Analysts
- Understanding of non-functional requirements, quality assurance, and continuous improvement methods
- 5+ years of experience in an architectural function and at least ten years of development experience
- Hands-on development skills with a deep understanding of APIs, security, scaling, and other associated nuances
- Strong architectural documentation skills, including visual aids
- Experience with build versus buy analysis and vendor product selection
- Knowledge of modern architecture components/designs, such as AngularJS, Microservices, NoSQL, Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
- Strong messaging experience
- Familiarity with the payments industry
- Excellent communication, influencing, and detail-oriented capabilities.
- Passion for architecture and ability to drive change and manage results.
