About this role
- The Assistant - Stores supports the stores and inventory team in receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking materials, equipment, spare parts, consumables, and other stock items
- The role is responsible for helping maintain accurate inventory records and ensuring that materials are available to authorized departments when required
- Key duties include receiving goods against purchase orders or delivery documents, checking quantities and item conditions, labeling and arranging materials in designated storage locations, and reporting discrepancies or damages to the stores supervisor
- The assistant prepares material issue notes, stock transfer records, and other inventory documentation
- The role also supports periodic stock counting, reconciliation of physical inventory with system records, and identification of slow-moving, damaged, or expired items
- Proper storage practices must be followed to prevent loss, deterioration, contamination, or misplacement of materials
- The Assistant - Stores ensures that the stores area remains clean, organized, secure, and compliant with workplace safety requirements
- The position may involve coordinating with procurement, maintenance, operations, finance, and user departments to clarify material requirements and delivery schedules
- Basic computer knowledge, familiarity with inventory systems, numerical accuracy, organizational skills, and attention to detail are important
- The role requires honesty, physical stamina where applicable, and the ability to follow inventory control procedures consistently
