    About this role

    About Us

At NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, we're proud to play a key role in supporting NHS Scotland by delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care. As a modern, national facility with state‑of‑the‑art clinical services and specialist teams, we help ensure patients across Scotland receive timely, safe and effective treatment.

    About The Role

NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Service Manager to join our Medical Education Division. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate medical education within a nationally recognised specialist NHS organisation. Working closely with the Director and Associate Director of Medical Education, you will help shape the future of medical education, support strategic priorities, and ensure the delivery of safe, effective and innovative education services.

As Assistant Service Manager, you will provide both operational and strategic leadership across the Medical Education portfolio. You will lead service improvement initiatives, support capacity and workforce planning, oversee governance and quality processes, and contribute to the achievement of national and local performance targets. The role requires a proactive individual who can analyse complex information, develop evidence-based recommendations, and influence positive change across a diverse range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a central role in the coordination of junior doctor and medical student programmes, management of teaching and training activities, performance reporting, financial oversight, and service development. You will work collaboratively with clinicians, educational leads, universities, NHS Scotland Academy, corporate support services and external partners to ensure the delivery of an exceptional educational experience and the continuous advancement of the organisation's educational objectives.

    About You

Applicants should be educated to degree level or possess equivalent experience, with a strong background in operational or service management. Experience of supporting undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, staff and budget management, performance improvement, governance, and service redesign is highly desirable. You will be an excellent communicator with strong leadership, problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of managing competing priorities and building effective relationships at both operational and strategic levels.

This permanent post provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to the future development of Medical Education within NHS Golden Jubilee. We are committed to supporting professional development and offer an attractive range of NHS benefits, including generous annual leave, pension scheme membership, free parking and access to a wide variety of staff wellbeing initiatives.
