Assistant Manager

Role & responsibilities

• Operate and monitor 132kV switch yard equipment including circuit breakers, isolators, current transformers, potential transformers, lightning arresters, bus bars, power transformers and associated protection systems.

• Carry out switching operations as per approved procedures, permit-to-work systems, load requirements and instructions from authorized personnel.

• Monitor electrical parameters such as voltage, current, frequency, power factor, transformer loading, oil temperature, winding temperature and relay indications.

• Coordinate with grid/substation authorities, internal electrical teams and user departments for power supply reliability and planned shutdown activities.

• Maintain shift logs, equipment readings, event records, breakdown reports, energy consumption data and statutory documentation.

• Respond promptly to alarms, tripping, faults and emergency situations, and support safe restoration of power supply.

• Assist in preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of HT/LT distribution systems, transformers, control panels, battery chargers, DC systems, DG sets, UPS systems, SCADA and related electrical equipment.

• Ensure proper isolation, earthing, lockout/tagout and safety precautions before maintenance work is started.

• Inspect switch yard equipment regularly for abnormal noise, heating, oil leakage, gas pressure, loose connections, corona discharge, insulator damage and housekeeping issues.

• Support testing and maintenance of protection relays, breakers, transformers, earthing systems, batteries, cables and metering systems.

• Assist in energy management initiatives, power quality improvement, cost-saving measures and optimization of electrical system performance.

• Plan and follow up for consumables, critical spares and maintenance materials required for reliable switch yard operation.

• Ensure compliance with Indian Electricity Rules, statutory electrical safety requirements, company EHS standards and site operating procedures.

• Participate in emergency drills, safety training, toolbox talks and continuous improvement activities.
