Assistant Manager - Taxation & Compliance

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Excellence

• Ensure accurate and timely preparation and filing of direct and indirect tax returns in compliance with applicable regulations.

• Apply appropriate adjustments, deductions, and credits to optimize tax positions while ensuring full compliance.

• Compute taxes payable/refundable and complete returns as per prescribed formats, instructions, and tax tables.

• Review and validate financial records (income statements, expense documents, invoices) to determine correct tax treatment

. • Verify tax computations and returns prepared by others to identify and rectify errors in calculations, data, or processes.

• Refer to tax laws, guidelines, and updates to manage complex or atypical tax scenarios.

• Maintain proper documentation and audit trails to support filings and assessments.

• Coordinate with finance and cross-functional teams for tax payments, reconciliations, and query resolution.

• Support tax audits, assessments, and notices by liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

• Ensure compliance with industry-specific tax requirements related to relocations, logistics, and cross-border transactions (e.g., GST, withholding taxes, international assignments).

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and clients to gather required information on income, expenses, deductions, and allowances.

• Provide guidance and clarifications to ensure accurate and complete tax data submission.

• Address client queries related to tax computations, filings, and compliance requirements.

• Build effective relationships to ensure smooth coordination and timely completion of tax-related activities.

Process Improvement & Compliance

• Stay updated on changes in tax laws and proactively assess their impact on the business.

• Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and strengthen compliance controls.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of Direct and Indirect Taxation (Income Tax, GST, TDS, Corporate Tax)

Knowledge of Tax Compliance, Filings, and Regulatory Requirements (including audits and assessments)

Qualifications

Chartered Accountant(CA)

Additional certifications in taxation would be an added advantage

Experience

2-3 years of relevant experience in tax management

Hands on exp in direct & indirect tax

Exposure to tax filings , audits , assessments & regulatory compliance

Experience working in ERP system(SAP)
