Job Summary
We are looking for a results-oriented Assistant Procurement Manager to manage end-to-end procurement operations for the Ethical category across India. The role involves ensuring product availability, optimizing inventory levels, improving procurement margins, strengthening vendor relationships, and leading the procurement team to achieve operational and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Order Management
- Manage the complete purchase order (PO) lifecycle, including PO release, order follow-up, delivery tracking, and closure.
- Ensure timely procurement to maintain product availability across locations.
- Monitor pending orders and coordinate with vendors to minimize delays and stock-outs.
Vendor Management & Performance
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Monitor vendor fill rates, product availability, and order fulfillment performance.
- Drive margin improvement through effective negotiations and commercial discussions.
- Coordinate payment reconciliation and resolve vendor-related discrepancies.
Inventory & Stock Management
- Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock availability across locations.
- Reduce inventory holding days and minimize excess, slow-moving, and non-moving stock.
- Ensure efficient inventory planning based on demand, sales trends, and stock requirements.
Reporting & Data Analysis
- Prepare and analyze procurement reports, vendor performance reports, fill-rate reports, and inventory reports.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Use data-driven insights to improve procurement efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Team Management & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Lead, guide, and monitor the procurement team to achieve defined targets.
- Coordinate with internal teams, including Sales, Warehouse, Finance, and Operations, to streamline processes.
- Identify process gaps, implement corrective actions, and ensure timely issue resolution.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong vendor management, negotiation, and commercial skills.
- Good understanding of inventory management, stock availability, and procurement planning.
- Proficiency in MS Excel/Google Sheets and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and team management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate with stakeholders across India.
