Assistant Manager OR Manager

Role & responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility for smooth and continuous rolling mill operations to achieve production, quality, and yield targets.
• Oversee Roll Turning Shop (RTS) operations, including roll grinding, profiling, and inspection
• Plan and control roll life management, dressing cycles, an inventory
• Design, review, and optimize roll passes and roll path layouts
• Coordinate with production and maintenance for effective roll performance
• Supervise roll assembly, disassembly, and installation. Ensure proper bearing fitment, cooling arrangements, and alignment
• Analyze roll and bearing failures and implement corrective actions
• Identify critical mechanical spares for rolling mill and RTS. Prepare technical specifications, evaluate vendors, and coordinate procurement. Maintain optimal spares inventory levels to avoid downtime
• Implement and maintain QMS / ISO systems applicable to rolling mill operations
• Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, customer specifications, and audits
• Lead, train, and mentor supervisors, engineers, and technicians
• Coordinate with Melting Shop, Maintenance, QC, and Stores
• Analyze production losses, breakdowns, and rejection data.

Preferred candidate profile :

• Education: Diploma Mechanical OR bachelors in mechanical
• Experience: 15-20 yrs in steel or Rolling Industry
• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of rolling mill operations- RTS, roll pass design & roll path, roll assembly & bearing systems
• Good understanding of mechanical systems and breakdown handling.
• Good understanding of QMS/ ISO/ TPM
• Knowledge of safety systems.
• Training to mill operators and fitters in shift
