Assistant Manager - Legal

Role & responsibilities

1. Litigation Management
Handle and manage cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act (Cheque Bounce cases).
Manage recovery suits filed for outstanding balances and dues.
Handle Motor Vehicle related cases (MVCA) including accident claims and related proceedings.
Manage labour law cases including disputes, claims, and compliance matters.
Handle consumer complaints and litigation before appropriate forums.
Coordinate with external advocates, prepare case briefs, and track case progress.
Ensure timely filings, hearings, and compliance with court procedures. 2. Recovery & Legal Actions
Initiate and monitor legal proceedings for recovery of overdue amounts.
Draft and issue legal notices, demand notices, and recovery-related correspondence.
Assist in negotiations, settlements, and dispute resolution.

3. Regulatory Compliance & Licensing
Handle FSSAI licensing, including application, renewal, and compliance.
Manage and respond to any FSSAI-related notices, inspections, or cases.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulatory requirements.

4. Operational Legal Support
Handle matters related to release of detained/seized vehicles from authorities.
Liaise with police, RTO, and other authorities for legal clearances.
Provide legal support to operations, finance, and other internal departments.

5. Drafting & Documentation
Draft and vet agreements, deeds, contracts, and legal notices.
Prepare replies, affidavits, petitions, and other legal submissions.
Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of all legal matters. 6. Land & Property Due Diligence
Conduct legal due diligence of land and property transactions.
Verify title documents, encumbrances, and statutory approvals.
Identify legal risks and provide recommendations.

7. Liaison & Coordination
Coordinate with courts, government departments, regulatory authorities, and legal counsel.
Represent the organization before authorities where required.

8. Legal Advisory & Risk Management
Provide legal advice on business operations and transactions.
Identify potential legal risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks.

Preferred candidate profile

Key Skills & Competencies

• Hands-on experience in NI Act 138 cases, recovery matters, and regulatory compliance is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of civil, criminal, labour, and commercial laws.
• Expertise in Negotiable Instruments Act, Motor Vehicle laws, Labour laws, and Consumer Protection laws.
• Familiarity with FSSAI regulations and licensing procedures.
• Excellent drafting and analytical skills.
• Strong coordination and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.
• Effective handling and timely progress of litigation matters.
• Recovery of outstanding dues through legal channels.
• Compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
• Quality and accuracy of legal drafting and documentation.
