AS400/iSeries SME

Roles and Responsibilities :

• Own technical design and delivery for IBM i initiatives, ensuring solutions are secure, resilient, and supportable.
• Hands on experience on data migration project wherein migrated data from one system to another by developing the transformation and loading scripts/build.
• Provide day-to-day technical direction to developers (coding standards, design reviews, estimation, and prioritisation).
• Partner with architecture, infrastructure, security, and product owners to align delivery with strategic roadmaps.
• Ensure documentation is fit for purpose: solution designs, runbooks, support guides, and knowledge articles.
• Design, develop, and maintain IBM i applications using RPGLE (Free preferred), CL/CLLE, COBOL (as applicable).

Job Requirements :

• 10+ years hands-on experience with IBM i / iSeries / AS400 in enterprise environments.
• Strong development experience in RPGLE (Free), CLLE (COBOL a plus depending on estate).
• Strong DB2 for i capability: SQL, performance tuning, data modelling concepts, and troubleshooting.
• Participate in broader discussions about future state software architecture
• Knowledge of API & Microservices, designing & developing responsive UI components
• Good troubleshooting skills
• Strong Leadership
• Proven track record in production support, troubleshooting, and major incident/root-cause analysis.
• Solid understanding of exception handling, resilience patterns, and operational controls.
• Working knowledge of API usage and integration concepts (REST, JSON, authentication basics).
• Strong analytical and communication skills—able to translate complex technical issues into clear actions and decisions.
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts or practical AIOps use cases. Experience leading data migration programmes (ETL, reconciliation, cutover). Python scripting and automation experience.
• Good to have - Experience modernising IBM i applications (service enablement, refactoring, hybrid integration). Familiarity with DevOps practices, version control (Git), and automated testing approaches.
