AS400 Developer (IBM i / RPG Developer)

Bangalore, India | Contract | Onsite Interview Required About the Role Our consulting client is seeking an experienced AS400 Developer to join a critical enterprise modernization and application support team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working within IBM i (AS400) environments, developing and maintaining RPG-based applications, and supporting business-critical systems. This role requires hands-on development expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams. Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain AS400/IBM i applications.
• Design and code solutions using RPG III, RPG IV, RPGLE, CL, and DB2.
• Perform production support, issue resolution, and system enhancements.
• Participate in application modernization initiatives.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.
• Collaborate with business users to gather and analyze requirements.
• Create technical documentation and support knowledge transfer activities.
• Work within Agile or Waterfall delivery environments. Required Skills / What You Bring
• 6-10 years of AS400 development experience.
• Strong expertise in IBM i / AS400 platform.
• Experience with RPG III, RPG IV, RPGLE, Free Format RPG.
• Hands-on experience with CL Programming.
• Strong DB2/400 database experience.
• Experience with Query/400, SQL, and performance tuning.
• Application maintenance and production support experience.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Immediate availability preferred.
