Job Purpose:

The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for driving acquisition of major merchant relationships, leading and managing a team of acquisition executives, and delivering business targets across merchant onboarding, Current Account acquisition, and cross-selling of banking asset products. The role focuses on building a strong merchant ecosystem, increasing customer engagement, and maximizing wallet share through cross-selling opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Merchant Acquisition & Relationship Management

• Drive acquisition of high-value merchants across designated geographies.
• Develop and execute market penetration strategies to increase merchant base.
• Identify and onboard merchants with high transaction potential.
• Build strong business relationships with key merchant partners and decision-makers.
• Ensure activation and sustained transaction volume from acquired merchants.
• Monitor merchant portfolio performance and take corrective actions where required.

Team Management

• Lead, coach, and manage a team of Sales Managers/Executives/Officers.
• Set sales targets, KPIs, and productivity benchmarks for team members.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and field visits.
• Provide training and mentoring on sales techniques, product knowledge, and customer engagement.
• Ensure achievement of individual and team business objectives.

Current Account (CA) Acquisition

• Drive sourcing of Current Accounts from merchant relationships.
• Increase CASA balances through targeted acquisition activities.
• Identify business banking opportunities within the merchant ecosystem.
• Collaborate with branch and business banking teams for seamless account opening and onboarding.

Cross-Selling of Asset Products

• Generate business opportunities for:
• Business Loans
• Merchant Finance
• Working Capital Loans
• Loan Against Property (LAP)
• Commercial Vehicle Loans
• Other SME/MSME Asset Products
• Leverage merchant relationships to identify asset financing needs.
• Work closely with asset product teams to ensure successful conversion and disbursement.

Sales Planning & Business Development

• Develop territory-wise acquisition plans and revenue strategies.
• Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and business opportunities.
• Conduct merchant engagement programs and promotional activities.
• Drive productivity and profitability within the assigned area.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure adherence to KYC, AML, and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain proper documentation and process compliance.
• Follow internal policies and audit requirements.
