Apprentice

Job Summary

The Apprentice Engineer will support field engineering activities under supervision, gaining hands-on experience in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of airport IT and passenger processing systems. The role focuses on skill development, adherence to SLAs, safety, and service quality while preparing the apprentice for a full-time Field Engineer role.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installation, configuration, and commissioning of airport systems (e.g., CUTE, CUSS, SBD, eGates, network devices).
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities at customer sites.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and escalate complex issues to senior engineers.
• Assist in hardware replacement, cabling, and peripheral setup.
• Ensure minimal operational disruption during support activities.
• Support incident resolution in line with defined SLAs.
• Update service tickets, work logs, and activity reports accurately.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and change management processes.
• Learn airport operational processes and passenger flow systems.
• Undergo technical and safety trainings as assigned.
• Shadow senior engineers during complex activities and live operations.
• Build competency across assigned products and tools.
• Support coordination with airport authorities, airlines, vendors, and internal teams under guidance.
• Maintain professional communication with customers and stakeholders.

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic knowledge of IT systems, hardware, networking, or electronics.
• Willingness to learn airport systems and mission-critical environments.
• Familiarity with Windows OS, basic networking, and troubleshooting concepts is an advantage.
• Strong learning mindset and willingness to take feedback.
• Discipline, punctuality, and adherence to processes.
• Team player with good communication skills.
• Ability to work in shifts and under supervision.

Work Conditions

• Shift-based working, including nights, weekends, and holidays as per airport operations.
• Onsite role in a live airport environment.
• Exposure to mission-critical systems requiring high availability.

Education & Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, IT, or related engineering discipline.
• Freshers or candidates with limited hands-on experience are encouraged to apply.
