Summary: As an Application Support Engineer, a typical day involves acting as a software detective by investigating and resolving issues across various components of essential business systems. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying problems, analyzing system behaviors, and ensuring the smooth operation of critical applications. The position demands continuous collaboration with different teams to maintain system stability and deliver timely solutions that support business continuity and efficiency.
Roles & Responsibilities: Administer, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain Azure PaaS services including App Services, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Database for MySQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, API Management, AKS, Key Vault, Event Hubs, Data Factory, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics. Support application deployments, configuration, scaling, availability, performance tuning, monitoring, incident resolution, security hardening, and production platform stability across Azure application services. Manage AKS workloads including cluster operations, namespaces, deployments, pods, services, ingress, scaling, container image coordination, monitoring, troubleshooting, and collaboration with DevOps teams. Support Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, Git-based release workflows, deployment validation, rollback coordination, change implementation, and production release support. Configure and maintain platform security components including Key Vault, managed identities, RBAC, access controls, secrets, certificates, network restrictions, private endpoints, service endpoints, and security monitoring. Monitor application and platform health using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, alerts, metrics, diagnostic logs, dashboards, and operational reports identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with application, DevOps, network, security, database, and infrastructure teams to resolve complex platform issues, support production deployments, and manage incidents, service requests, changes, and escalations using ITIL and ServiceNow processes.
Professional & Technical Skills: Strong hands-on experience in Azure PaaS administration, including App Services, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, API Management, Azure SQL, Azure Database for MySQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Key Vault, Event Hubs, Data Factory, and Azure Monitor. Strong experience managing AKS and Kubernetes workloads, including deployments, services, ingress, scaling, container troubleshooting, Docker images, cluster monitoring, and coordination with application and DevOps teams. Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Git repositories, build and release pipelines, deployment automation, release validation, rollback support, and production deployment governance. Hands-on experience with PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, ARM/Bicep templates, Azure Automation, or equivalent automation tools for provisioning, configuration, monitoring, reporting, and operational support. Strong knowledge of monitoring and troubleshooting Azure PaaS workloads using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, alerts, metrics, logs, service health, and diagnostic settings. Strong understanding of cloud security, RBAC, managed identities, Key Vault, certificates, secrets management, network integration, private endpoints, service endpoints, vulnerability remediation, and governance controls. Experience working with ITIL-based operational processes, ServiceNow ticketing, incident management, problem management, change management, service requests, SLA tracking, release coordination, and production support.Professional Attributes Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, stakeholder management, accountability, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage critical production issues under pressure.
