Role Overview

The APM Architect will serve as the overall technical owner and single point of contact (SPOC) for the Monitoring Assessment and GAP Analysis engagement. The role is responsible for designing the monitoring assessment framework, driving current-state evaluation, performing GAP and benchmarking analysis, and defining a phased APM and monitoring roadmap aligned to industry best practices and exchange-grade reliability standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Act as the overall technical owner and single point of contact (SPOC) for the Monitoring Assessment and GAP Analysis engagement.
• Lead Inception and Monitoring Framework Development (Month 00.5) by defining the monitoring assessment framework covering applications, infrastructure, databases, middleware, security, SLAs, KPIs, alerts, thresholds, dashboards, and incident integration.
• Drive Current State Assessment (Month 0.51.5) through detailed review of existing monitoring tools, configurations, dashboards, alerts, reports, and operational workflows, including stakeholder interviews to capture expectations and pain points.
• Perform comprehensive GAP Analysis (Month 1.5–2.5) to identify deficiencies in monitoring coverage, KPI effectiveness, alerting strategies, RCA capability, and proactive or predictive monitoring readiness.
• Benchmark current monitoring practices against industry best practices to define target-state standards, KPIs, and observability maturity goals.
• Design and recommend target-state APM and monitoring architecture, mapping identified gaps to actionable remediation strategies.
• Define short-, medium-, and long-term monitoring and observability recommendations, including tool optimization, KPI rationalization, and advanced monitoring capabilities.
• Create a phased APM and Monitoring Roadmap aligned to operational priorities and business outcomes.
• Lead knowledge transfer and enablement workshops to onboard internal teams on monitoring standards, KPIs, best practices, and implementation guidance.
• Collaborate closely with application, infrastructure, network, and operations teams to ensure alignment and implementation readiness throughout the engagement.

Must Have

• 10+ years of experience in Application Performance Monitoring, Observability, and Performance Engineering.
• Strong expertise in defining and assessing enterprise monitoring frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with leading APM tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics, OpenText APM, etc.).
• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry, AI/ML-based monitoring, and APM practices.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, middleware, databases, and high-throughput platforms.
• Proven experience conducting monitoring assessments, GAP analysis, and roadmap creation.

Good to have

• Experience working with exchange, trading, clearing, or mission-critical BFSI platforms.
• Experience in benchmarking against global operational standards.
• Exposure to setting up Monitoring COEs or Command Centers.

• Ability to mentor teams on APM practices.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions using production data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
