Application Engineer - I

Job Summary

This role provides entry-level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases and supports backend performance optimization, data integration, documentation, and secure development practices.

We are looking for Application Engineers to join the team, which builds solutions across personal, digital, and institutional advisory platforms. This is a core development role within a new team, focused on building backend services, APIs, and cloud-based applications from the ground up.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in Java, Python, Spring Boot, AWS services, API security, and backend development. Exposure to test automation, observability tools, and Agile ways of working will be an added advantage. This role offers strong end-to-end ownership, hands-on engineering exposure, and the opportunity to work on modern cloud and AI-enabled technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy cloud-native applications and APIs.
• Build secure, scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop and maintain AWS-based microservices and serverless solutions.
• Implement API authentication and authorization using OAuth, Okta, and JWT.
• Monitor application performance using Splunk, Honeycomb, and CloudWatch.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Support production applications and drive service reliability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ years of experience in application development, system analysis, and database management.
• Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Computer Science or IT, or Bachelor's in Computer Applications (BCA)
• Strong knowledge of Debugging in AWS and legacy using modern tools Optional - Agile, confluence, JIRA
• Strong knowledge of Java, Spring boot and Cloud platforms mainly AWS
• Preferred to have Python Basics
• Proficiency in AWS - Lambda, step functions, Dynamo DB, S3, ECS.
• Working knowledge of Splunk, Honeycomb, Cloud watch
• Good knowledge on API - security - OAUTH/OKTA jwts
• Version: Java 17; Python 3.9+; Spring Boot 3.0 +
• Exposure to modern development tools and practices.

This role is based in Hyderabad, Telangana at Vanguard's India office. Only qualified external applicants will be considered.
