Appian Developer

We are looking for an experienced *Appian Developer* with strong hands-on experience in designing, developing, and implementing Appian applications. The candidate should have good knowledge of Appian UI development, backend REST API integrations, role-based access control, group security, and permission management.

The ideal candidate should be able to work independently on Appian interfaces, process models, records, integrations, security configurations, and troubleshooting application or integration issues. The candidate should also have good communication skills to interact with clients, business users, backend developers, QA teams, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and maintain Appian applications using SAIL interfaces, process models, records, reports, and sites.

* Build user-friendly Appian interfaces based on business requirements.

* Develop and maintain Appian process models for business workflows and approvals.

* Create and manage Appian records, CDTs, Data Stores, Query Entities, and related data objects.

* Integrate Appian applications with backend systems using REST APIs.

* Handle JSON request and response mapping in Appian integrations.

* Configure role-based access control using Appian users, groups, roles, and permissions.

* Implement record-level security and user-based access control.

* Work closely with backend developers to understand API contracts, request payloads, response structures, authentication, and error handling.

* Communicate with clients and business users to understand requirements, clarify functional gaps, and provide technical updates.

* Coordinate with developers, QA teams, and business analysts during development, testing, defect fixing, and deployment activities.

* Troubleshoot Appian expression errors, interface issues, integration failures, API errors, data issues, and permission-related issues.

* Perform proper debugging and root cause analysis for production and non-production issues. * Participate in requirement discussions, technical design, development, testing, and deployment activities.

* Ensure Appian applications follow best practices for performance, security, maintainability, and reusability.

Required Skills

* Strong hands-on experience in Appian application development.

* Good knowledge of SAIL interfaces, expression rules, process models, records, reports, and sites.

* Experience in integrating Appian with backend services using REST APIs.

* Good understanding of JSON request and response handling in Appian.

* Experience in Appian roles, groups, security, and permission management.

* Knowledge of record-level security and user-based access control.

* Experience with Appian data objects such as CDT, Data Store, Records, and Query Entities.

* Strong debugging skills to identify and resolve Appian UI, expression, process model, integration, and permission issues.

* Ability to troubleshoot API integration issues, Appian expression errors, data mapping issues, and UIrelated issues.

* Basic understanding of backend systems, databases, and API gateway concepts.

* Good communication skills to interact with clients, developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders.

* Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to work with cross-functional teams including backend developers, QA, business analysts, product teams, and client stakeholders.

Good to Have Skills

* Experience working with secured APIs using authentication mechanisms such as API keys, OAuth, JWT, or headers-based authentication.

* Understanding of database concepts and SQL queries.

* Experience with Appian deployment, application packaging, and environment migration.

* Knowledge of Appian best practices for performance optimization and reusable components.

* Experience in banking, financial services, or enterprise workflow-based applications.

* Experience in debugging integration failures using API logs, request/response payloads, and backend error details.

Experience

* Experience working on enterprise-level Appian applications with backend API integrations and security/permission management.

* Experience working directly with clients, developers, QA teams, and business users during requirement clarification, implementation, testing, and issue resolution.

Preferred

The candidate should be technically strong in Appian development and should have practical experience in building interfaces, process models, records, integrations, and security configurations. The candidate should understand how to manage Appian security using groups, roles, and permissions, and should be comfortable working with backend API teams for integration-related development and troubleshooting.

The candidate should also have strong debugging and root cause analysis skills, along with good communication skills to coordinate effectively with clients, developers, QA teams, business analysts, and product stakeholders.
