API Testing Engineer / QA Automation Engineer (API Testing)

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented API Testing Engineer with strong experience in validating REST/SOAP APIs, automation testing, and quality assurance processes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing API test cases to ensure the reliability, performance, security, and functionality of backend services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute API test scenarios and test cases.
• Validate RESTful and SOAP web services using tools such as Postman, Swagger, and SoapUI.
• Develop and maintain API automation frameworks.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Validate request/response payloads, status codes, authentication, and business logic.
• Work closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements.
• Identify, document, track, and retest defects using defect management tools.
• Execute database validations using SQL queries.
• Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and Agile ceremonies.
• Ensure test coverage and maintain test documentation.

Required Skills

• 4 -10 years of experience in API Testing.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, SOAP APIs, JSON, and XML.
• Hands-on experience with Postman, SoapUI, Swagger, or similar tools.
• Experience in API Automation using Java/Python/JavaScript.
• Knowledge of automation frameworks such as Rest Assured, Karate, or similar.
• Good understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, authentication (OAuth, JWT, Basic Auth).
• Strong SQL skills for database validation.
• Experience with defect tracking tools such as JIRA.
• Understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile methodologies.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
• Knowledge of performance testing tools like JMeter.
• Exposure to microservices architecture.
• Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Nice-to-Have Certifications

• ISTQB Certification
• Postman API Tester Certification
• Agile/Scrum Certification
