Role Purpose
Provide deep Ansible engineering expertise to establish automation standards and convert the existing Chef automation estate into production-quality Ansible assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop Ansible playbooks, roles and collections.
• Analyze Chef cookbooks and define equivalent Ansible implementation patterns.
• Support automated and AI-assisted Chef-to-Ansible conversion.
• Review converted assets and perform required engineering/remediation.
• Build reusable automation for OS hardening, provisioning, agent deployment and configuration management.
• Support Linux and Windows automation.
• Develop standards for variables, inventories, dependencies and reusable content.
• Troubleshoot complex Ansible execution and migration issues.
• Conduct peer/code reviews and establish Ansible engineering quality standards.
• Mentor migration factory engineers.

Required Skills

• Deep hands-on Ansible engineering.
• Strong YAML, Python and shell/PowerShell scripting skills.
• Linux and/or Windows configuration automation.
• Git-based source control and CI/CD integration.
• API/integration automation experience.
• Infrastructure/configuration management experience.
• Chef/Ruby experience strongly preferred because the source estate contains ~1,600 Chef cookbooks.

Preferred: Relevant Red Hat Ansible certification where available.
