About this role
The Opportunity We are a fast-moving startup radically changing how oncology practitioners work. We are looking to expand our development team to make ONCOassist the most innovative company in digital health. We are looking for an iOS Developer to join our Engineering team — an exciting opportunity to bring cutting-edge technology into the healthcare domain. You will work in a collaborative environment that encourages you to engineer elegant solutions for complex clinical problems, work first-hand with some of the world’s largest pharma companies, and play a key role in the growth of the company. You will have an opportunity to work on a product that improves quality of care for cancer patients at home in India and around the world.
The Opportunity ONCOassist is a CE-approved clinical decision support app for oncology professionals. It gives oncology healthcare professionals easy access to all the tools and information they need to make informed clinical decisions quickly — improving the quality of patient care and hospital efficiency.
Tech Stack Required • Language: Kotlin (modern Android) • UI: Jetpack Compose + legacy XML layouts • Architecture: MVVM, Clean Architecture, multi-module project structure • Async: Coroutines & RxJava • Dependency Injection: Hilt • Persistence: Room • Background Processing: WorkManager • Networking: Retrofit • Testing & CI/CD: Unit, integration, and UI testing; release pipeline experience • Version Control: Git
Nice to Have • Experience in medical device or regulated software environments (EU MDR awareness) • Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Push Notifications) • Java legacy codebase experience • Familiarity with Play Store release processes and internal testing tracks
What you will be doing • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications for oncology professionals • Build modern UI using Jetpack Compose alongside legacy XML, applying Material Design principles • Implement and maintain Clean Architecture patterns across a multi-module codebase • Write asynchronous, performant code using Coroutines and RxJava • Integrate REST APIs and backend services via Retrofit • Manage local data persistence using Room and background tasks with WorkManager • Apply a medical-device mindset: adherence to regulatory standards, audit trails, and patient safety considerations • Write and maintain unit, integration, and UI tests; contribute to CI/CD pipeline • Participate in code reviews, troubleshoot bugs, and drive continuous improvement • Collaborate with product managers and designers to implement new features and enhance the user experience • Take end-to-end technical ownership from inception through testing, integration, and delivery • Create and maintain high-quality technical design and sprint documentation
Skills and Experience • Strong commercial Android development experience (3-8 years) • Published Android applications in a production environment • Proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android development practices • Solid experience with Jetpack Compose and XML-based UI • Deep understanding of MVVM, Clean Architecture, and multi-module project structures • Hands-on experience with Coroutines and/or RxJava • Experience with Hilt for dependency injection • Experience with Room, WorkManager, and Retrofit • Strong testing experience and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and design patterns • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills • Experience in healthcare, medical devices, or regulated software is a distinct advantage
