Android Developer

Role & responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of Android TV playback features using ExoPlayer and related Android media technologies. 
• Support implementation of hybrid playback solutions integrating native video playback with HTML5 WebView-based UI layers. 
• Assist in optimising playback performance, including startup time, buffering, and video quality across Android TV devices. 
• Collaborate with frontend and platform teams to improve integration between WebView UI and native playback components. 
• Help maintain and improve player architecture, including logging, monitoring, and debugging tools.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Required Qualifications:

• Professional software engineering experience or relevant academic background 
• Experience developing Android applications, ideally with some exposure to Android TV 
• Familiarity with ExoPlayer or other Android media playback frameworks 
• Basic understanding of streaming protocols such as HLS and DASH 
• Experience or interest in hybrid applications using WebView and web technologies (HTML5, JavaScript) 
• Proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java 
• Strong willingness to learn and develop expertise in video playback technologies and device ecosystems.
