As an Android Engineer, you will be responsible for owning and enhancing our dedicated tablet-based Android application. Your core focus will be split between ensuring the stability and performance of the existing application and architecting scalable new features. Because this is a tablet-first experience, you will leverage modern Kotlin development patterns to build highly responsive, adaptive layouts that maximize larger screen real estate. You will collaborate closely with product and UI/UX teams to translate complex workflows into seamless, reliable mobile experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- App Development: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable Kotlin code to build modern Android applications.
- UI/UX Implementation: Create responsive user interfaces using Jetpack Compose or traditional Android Views.
- Architecture Design: Apply patterns like MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel), Clean Architecture, and SOLID principles.
- API Integration: Connect mobile apps to backend services, RESTful APIs, and cloud messaging (e.g., Retrofit, OkHttp, Firebase).
- Concurrency Performance: Manage background tasks using Kotlin Coroutines and Flow, and optimize app startup, memory usage, and battery life.
- Testing Quality Assurance: Write unit tests, UI tests, and participate in code reviews.
- CI/CD Deployment: Use tools like Gradle, Git, and CI/CD pipelines to build, test, and ship apps to the Google Play Store.
Requirements
- Experience building and maintaining Android applications.
- Strong proficiency in Android development using Kotlin.
- Experience with build tools such as Gradle, GitHub Actions.
- Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices.
- Experience with asynchronous programming and reactive development patterns.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with performance analysis and application optimization.
- Ability to work with and modernize legacy codebases.
- Experience writing unit, integration, and automated tests.
- Familiarity with open-source frameworks and development practices.
- Experience working within globally distributed teams.
- Strong self-management, communication, and time management skills.
- Experience integrating mobile applications with backend services and RESTful APIs.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
- Experience: 3+ years of hands-on Android development experience.
