Job Description: Analyst – Sanctions Compliance (3–5 Years Experience)
Position Title Analyst – Sanctions Compliance Reporting To Head – Sanctions Desk Location [Mumbai ]
Role Purpose To support the Sanctions Desk in ensuring effective implementation of sanctions controls, transaction screening governance, and regulatory compliance by reviewing escalations, providing advisory support, and maintaining robust sanctions monitoring and reporting frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Transaction Screening & Escalation Management Review and disposition of escalated sanction alerts/transactions, ensuring timely and accurate clearance for further escalation. Analyze sanction hits across payment systems including MT101 and MT102 transactions. Support investigation and resolution of complex sanctions-related cases in line with internal policies and regulatory expectations.
- Sanctions List & Watchlist Management Conduct daily sanctions list management checks, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Perform checks against specific sanctioned banks/entities as per internal directives and regulatory requirements. Monitor updates across global sanctions regimes (OFAC, UNSC, EU, HMT, etc.) and assess impact on internal controls.
- Sanctions Due Diligence & Advisory Review and assess sanctions due diligence escalations, providing independent evaluation and recommendations. Provide sanctions-related advisory support to business and internal stakeholders, including guidance on transaction permissibility and risk exposure. Collaborate with regional compliance teams on regulatory advisories and cross-border sanctions matters.
- Issue Management & Investigation Support Support timely closure of sanctions-related issues, including audit findings, internal review observations, and regulatory queries. Assist with Request for Information (RFI) handling related to sanctions investigations and transaction reviews.
- Reporting & Documentation Prepare and maintain monthly sanctions reports, including metrics on alerts, escalations, breaches, and key risk indicators. Ensure accurate documentation and audit trail of sanctions decisions and rationale.
- Policy & Governance Support updating and enhancement of Sanctions Operating Manual, policies, and procedures in line with evolving regulations and internal standards. Contribute to strengthening internal controls, governance frameworks, and process improvements.

Qualifications & Experience e 3–5 years of experience in sanctions compliance / financial crime / AML within banking or financial services. Strong understanding of global sanctions frameworks (OFAC, EU, UN, HMT, etc.) Experience in transaction screening systems and SWIFT message formats (for e.g. MT101, MT102 preferred) Familiarity with sanctions due diligence, investigation processes, and escalation handling.

Preferred Attributes Experience working in a cross-border / regional compliance setup Exposure to regulatory inspections, audits, or remediation programs Certifications such as CAMS / CGSS / ICA (Sanctions/AML) are advantageous
