AlloyDB engineer

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced

AlloyDB Engineer to design, implement, manage, and optimize

Google Cloud AlloyDB database environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PostgreSQL, cloud database administration, performance tuning, high availability, migration, and automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage

Google Cloud AlloyDB clusters and instances.

• Perform database administration activities including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
• Manage PostgreSQL-compatible database environments and ensure reliability and scalability.
• Configure and maintain high availability, backups, disaster recovery, and replication strategies.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries, indexes, and workloads.
• Perform database migrations from PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or other platforms to AlloyDB.
• Implement security best practices including IAM, encryption, access controls, and auditing.
• Automate database operations using scripting and DevOps tools.
• Work with development teams to improve SQL performance and database design.
• Manage capacity planning, resource optimization, and cost management.
• Support production environments and resolve critical database incidents.
• Create and maintain database documentation, standards, and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with

Google Cloud AlloyDB .

• Advanced knowledge of

PostgreSQL database administration .

• Experience with:
• SQL tuning and query optimization
• Database indexing and performance analysis
• Backup and recovery strategies
• Replication and high availability
• Database monitoring and troubleshooting
• Experience with

Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.

• Knowledge of cloud networking, security, and IAM concepts.
• Experience with database migration tools and methodologies.
• Strong scripting skills (Python, Shell, SQL).
• Experience with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex database and performance issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Google Cloud certifications (Professional Cloud Database Engineer preferred).
• Experience managing large-scale production PostgreSQL environments.
• Experience with Kubernetes/cloud-native applications.
• Familiarity with DevOps and SRE practices.
• Experience working with enterprise applications and distributed systems.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
