Air Freight Commercial Manager - General Logistics

Job Description

We are hiring an Air Freight Commercial Manager to lead and develop our client's Air Freight Product across India. The role is responsible for airline procurement, trade lane development, pricing strategy, profitability, and strengthening relationships with airlines, GSSAs, and global partners.

The incumbent will work closely with Sales, Pricing, Operations, and Overseas Offices to drive revenue growth, improve margins, and enhance service offerings across Air Import & Export businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Strategy & Development: Develop and execute Air Freight product strategies aligned with business objectives. Identify growth opportunities across key trade lanes and industry verticals.
• Airline Procurement & Relationship Management: Manage strategic relationships with airlines, GSSAs, consolidators, and logistics partners. Negotiate annual agreements, spot rates, and capacity allocations. Optimize carrier mix, capacity utilization, and procurement costs.
• Trade Lane & Commercial Management: Develop and expand strategic trade lanes including Europe, USA, Middle East, Africa, and Intra-Asia. Monitor market trends, freight rates, fuel surcharges, and capacity movements.
• Business Development Support: Partner with Sales teams to acquire and grow key accounts with a focus on Healthcare Logistics. Support RFQs, tenders, and strategic customer opportunities.
• Profitability & P&L Ownership: Own Air Freight revenue, volume, and gross profit targets. Analyze tonnage, yields, procurement costs, and trade lane performance.
• Operations & Service Excellence: Work closely with Operations teams to ensure seamless shipment execution and resolve capacity constraints or escalations.
• Compliance & Risk: Ensure adherence to IATA regulations, aviation security requirements, and company policies.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or IATA Certification preferred.
• Experience: 7+ years in Freight Forwarding & Logistics, with at least 5 years in Air Product, Procurement, or Commercial functions.
• Industry Background: Candidates from leading Freight Forwarding and Logistics organizations (Indian IATA and similar) preferred.
• Key Skills: Proven experience in airline rate negotiations, trade lane development, P&L management, strategic pricing, and Air Import/Export operations.
