AI - Lead Engineer

Role: AI - Lead Engineer Location: Bangalore (Work from Office) Exp: 4 yrs -7 yrs

Role Summary We are looking for an AI Lead to drive the technical direction of our AI Practice and lead a team of AI engineers across multiple client engagements. You will own solution architecture, mentor the team, and act as the senior technical authority on generative and agentic AI projects built on Microsoft Azure. This is a high-impact role combining hands-on engineering leadership with client-facing technical ownership.

Key Functions & Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of complex AI, generative AI, and agentic AI solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Own end-to-end solution architecture, from requirement analysis through deployment and handover.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to AI Engineers and Trainees, setting coding and quality standards.
• Anchor migration support and technical support for Customer-owned AI projects and services
• Partner with presales and product teams on effort estimation, TCO modelling, and POC scoping.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients on assigned engagements.
• Review architectures and code to ensure scalability, security, and best-practice compliance.
• Drive internal AI practice building – reusable assets, frameworks, and knowledge bases.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging Azure AI capabilities and recommend their application.

Required Skills & Competencies

• 4–5 years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with demonstrated technical leadership.
• Deep expertise in Python and the Microsoft Azure AI ecosystem (Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure Machine Learning).
• Proven track record delivering generative AI / LLM / RAG solutions in production.
• Strong solution architecture and system design skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading small technical teams.
• Excellent communication skills, including client-facing and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred / Good-to-Have

• Experience designing agentic AI systems and multi-agent orchestration.
• Advanced Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure AI Engineer Associate, Agentic AI Business Solutions Architect).
• Experience contributing to presales and proposal development.
• Familiarity with MLOps, governance, and responsible AI frameworks.

Work Environment This is a full-time position based out of Xencia’s offices in Bangalore / Chennai, operating on a hybrid model.
