Job Description

HiLabs is a US-based healthcare technology company leveraging AI to improve healthcare data quality. Its flagship platform, MCheck, helps address complex data quality challenges in the US healthcare ecosystem.

We are looking for a hands-on AI Automation Engineer with strong Python programming skills and a passion for test automation, intelligent automation, and problem-solving. The ideal candidate should be comfortable building automation solutions, validating application and backend data, and using AI-powered tools to improve testing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain reusable automation scripts and frameworks using Python.
• Build and enhance UI automation using Playwright or similar automation tools.
• Develop automated tests for application functionality, APIs, and backend data validation.
• Write SQL queries to validate data accuracy, integrity, transformations, and business rules.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and API testing.
• Identify, debug, and troubleshoot automation failures, application defects, and data discrepancies.
• Use AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or similar solutions to accelerate test development and debugging.
• Evaluate AI-generated scripts and test cases, ensuring correctness, reliability, and maintainability.
• Integrate automated test execution into CI/CD pipelines and generate meaningful test reports.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to understand requirements and identify high-risk scenarios.
• Take ownership of assigned tasks, proactively resolve blockers, and deliver practical automation solutions within timelines.
• Quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, frameworks, and tools as project needs evolve.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 2 to 6 years of experience in software development, test automation, QA automation, or a related engineering role.
• Strong hands-on programming skills in Python.
• Experience with test automation frameworks and writing maintainable, reusable code.
• Working knowledge of Playwright or a willingness to demonstrate strong automation fundamentals and learn it quickly.
• Good understanding of SQL, joins, aggregations, subqueries, and database validation.
• Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, authentication, and request/response validation.
• Experience with debugging, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting technical issues.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or equivalent.
• Exposure to AI-assisted coding, test generation, or debugging tools is an advantage.
• Strong analytical thinking, ownership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to work in a fast-paced, evolving product environment.

Good to Have

• Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience building automation frameworks from scratch.
• Exposure to data engineering, ETL testing, data pipelines, or large-scale data validation.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, Docker, or other modern development tools.
• Exposure to testing AI/ML-powered applications or LLM-based systems.
