About this role
Role & responsibilities
Agro Operations Leader to manage and scale commercial marigold cultivation operations in South Africa.
The role will have end-to-end responsibility for farm productivity, crop planning, agronomy, irrigation, crop protection, labour, harvesting, post-harvest handling, quality, cost management and operational performance.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in commercial floriculture, horticulture, high-value crops or large-scale farm operations, together with the ability to establish disciplined agricultural systems within an international MNC environment.
Farm & Agro Operations
- Lead end-to-end farm operations for commercial marigold production.
- Develop annual and seasonal crop production plans.
- Plan land preparation, nursery management, planting, transplanting and crop cycles.
- Establish standardized SOPs for all field operations.
- Monitor crop growth, plant population, flowering and yield performance.
- Drive productivity improvement across all production blocks.
- Ensure timely execution of all farm activities.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Floriculture, Plant Science or related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualification in Agribusiness/Farm Management is an advantage
- 1015+ years of experience in commercial agriculture/horticulture.
- Minimum 5 years in a farm/agro-operations leadership role.
- Experience in floriculture, ornamental crops, horticultural crops, seed production or other high-value crops strongly preferred.
- Experience managing medium-to-large commercial farms.
- Experience managing large agricultural labour forces.
- MNC / international agribusiness experience is preferred.
- Experience in South Africa or Southern African agricultural operations will be a strong advantage.
