About this role
- Manage day-to-day accounting transactions and maintain accurate books of accounts.
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare customer invoices, debit notes, credit notes and vendor payment vouchers.
- Verify freight, transport, customs clearance, warehouse and other operational invoices.
- Monitor customer outstanding balances and follow up for timely collections.
- Reconcile customer, vendor, shipping line and overseas agent accounts.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Record and reconcile foreign currency transactions and exchange differences.
- Manage petty cash and office expense records.
- Process vendor payments after verifying supporting documents and approvals.
- Maintain job-wise costing and profitability reports for import and export shipments.
- Coordinate with the operations team to ensure all shipment-related costs and revenues are properly recorded.
- Prepare monthly MIS reports, profit and loss statements and outstanding reports for management.
- Handle GST, TDS and other applicable statutory compliance requirements.
- Assist with GST returns, TDS returns, audits and year-end account finalisation.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, banks, customers and vendors as required.
- Maintain proper filing and documentation of invoices, receipts, vouchers and supporting records.
- Ensure all accounting entries are completed accurately and within the required deadlines.
- Perform any other finance or accounting responsibilities assigned by management.
