Accountant

Role & responsibilities

We are looking for a skilled, reliable and detail-oriented Accountant / Accounts Executive for our logistics and transportation operations in Coimbatore.

The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing daily cash and bank transactions, reconciling customer accounts, and assisting management with financial reporting.

1. Maintain day-to-day accounts, including cash receipts, payments, expenses and journal entries.
2. Manage daily cashbook, bankbook, petty cash and cash reconciliation.
3. Record and reconcile customer collections received through cash, UPI, NEFT, RTGS and cheques.
4. Maintain customer ledgers, outstanding balances, ageing reports and payment follow-ups.
5. Reconcile freight collections, transport charges, loading/unloading charges, door delivery charges and other business income.
6. Prepare and verify daily, weekly and monthly financial reports.
7. Maintain accounts using Zoho Books, Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
8. Reconcile bank statements, identify discrepancies and ensure accurate transaction classification.
9. Maintain supplier, transporter, employee and labour payment records.
10. Assist with payroll calculations, salary payments, incentives and employee advances.
11. Maintain proper vouchers, invoices, supporting documents and expense records.
12. Assist auditors with GST, TDS, income tax and other applicable statutory compliance.
13. Coordinate with management and head office for financial reconciliations and settlements.
14. Identify accounting discrepancies, report irregularities and maintain proper financial controls.
15. Ensure confidentiality of all business, customer and financial information.

Preferred candidate profile

• Education: B.Com, M.Com or equivalent qualification in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience: 25 years of practical accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, ledger maintenance and bank reconciliation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and data reconciliation.
• Experience with Zoho Books or Tally Prime preferred.
• Basic working knowledge of GST, TDS and Indian accounting practices.
• Previous experience in logistics, transportation, freight forwarding or trading businesses will be an advantage.
• Ability to handle high-volume daily transactions accurately.
• Good analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prepare accurate reports and meet deadlines.
• Must be trustworthy, responsible and capable of working independently.
• Good communication skills in Tamil; basic English proficiency preferred.
