Account Manager

Role & responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day plant accounting operations, including purchase, sales, expenses, receipts, payments, provisions, journals and ledger scrutiny.
• Ensure timely monthly, quarterly and annual closing of plant books and submission of accurate financial reports to Corporate Finance.
• Prepare and analyse plant MIS, P&L, cost statements, budget versus actuals and management reports.
• Monitor manufacturing costs, including raw materials, power, fuel, consumables, manpower, maintenance and other plant overheads.
• Analyse cost per MT / unit, production cost variances, yield, recovery, wastage and process losses and highlight areas requiring corrective action.
• Manage inventory and stores accounting, covering raw materials, WIP, finished goods, spares, consumables, scrap and by-products.
• Conduct and coordinate physical stock verification and reconciliation between physical inventory, ERP records and financial books.
• Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including vendor/customer reconciliation, ageing analysis, advances and outstanding balances.
• Monitor working capital and cash flow, including bank reconciliation, payment schedules, cash requirements and receivable collections.
• Ensure timely and accurate GST, TDS and other applicable tax compliances, including reconciliations and coordination with tax teams.
• Coordinate with Statutory Auditors, Internal Auditors, Cost Auditors and Tax Auditors, providing schedules, records and required explanations.
• Prepare and monitor annual budgets, operating expenditure budgets and forecasts for the manufacturing plant.
• Monitor CAPEX expenditure, verify supporting documents and ensure appropriate capitalization and maintenance of fixed asset records.
• Ensure accurate accounting and reconciliation of production, dispatch, sales, consumption and material movement in coordination with Production, Stores, Purchase and Commercial teams.
• Ensure effective internal financial controls, identify process gaps and implement corrective measures to minimize financial and operational risks.
• Ensure accurate and timely transactions in SAP / ERP, including review of system reports and reconciliation of operational and financial data.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to the Plant Head and Finance Head for cost optimization, profitability improvement and operational decision-making.
• Monitor slow-moving and non-moving inventory, outstanding receivables, vendor advances and other working capital parameters.
• Support management in implementing cost-reduction initiatives, process improvements, automation and stronger financial controls.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• CA / CMA / MBA Finance will be an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and taxation.
• Working knowledge of SAP / ERP and MS Excel is essential.

• 812 years of relevant experience in Finance & Accounts.
• Prior experience in manufacturing / steel / metals / heavy engineering / process industry is preferred.
• Strong hands-on experience in Plant Accounting and Cost Accounting.
• Experience in manufacturing cost analysis, inventory accounting and financial MIS.
• Exposure to GST, TDS, audits, budgeting, forecasting and statutory compliance.
• Experience in managing or supervising a Finance & Accounts team will be preferred.
