Accession Manager

Role & responsibilities

1. Sample Accessioning: Oversee the receipt, verification, registration, barcode labelling, and entry of patient samples into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
2. Sample Verification: Ensure samples are properly labelled and meet the required criteria for acceptance or rejection.
3. Team Management: Supervise accessioning staff, allocate daily tasks, monitor productivity, and ensure smooth workflow.
4. TAT Management: Monitor turnaround time (TAT) and ensure samples are processed and dispatched to the respective laboratory departments on time.
5. Sample Tracking: Maintain accurate records of samples received, pending, processed, rejected, and dispatched.
6. Coordination: Coordinate with phlebotomist, collection centers, logistics teams, and laboratory departments to resolve sample-related issues.
7. Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards, biosafety guidelines, and documentation requirements.
8. Issue Resolution: Handle discrepancies such as incorrect patient details, barcode mismatches, insufficient samples, leakage, and delayed sample transportation.
9. MIS & Reporting: Prepare daily reports on sample volumes, pending samples, rejection rates, errors, and team productivity.
10. Process Improvement: Identify operational gaps and implement measures to improve accuracy, efficiency, and turnaround time.
